I built the editor I needed.
Hi, I'm Divy. I make YouTube Shorts, and editing them kept taking longer than filming them. Cutmallow is how I fixed that.

The problem
I post tech Shorts on my channel, @techbydivy. Filming one takes a few minutes: phone on the desk, mic clipped on, talk. The editing was the part that ate my evenings.
Every raw take has the same mess. Long pauses while I think. A few "um"s. The fan humming in the background. And then the captions, because most people scroll with the sound off, so a Short without captions barely gets watched.
The apps that promise to fix this all had a catch. The free plan put a watermark on my video, or capped the export at 720p, or gave me a handful of caption credits a month. Almost all of them wanted me to upload the raw clip to their servers and wait. I didn't love sending every unedited take, mistakes and all, to someone else's computer just to cut a few pauses out.
So I built Cutmallow
Cutmallow does the boring part of the edit for you, right in your browser. Drop in a clip and it finds the pauses, cleans up the background noise and writes word-by-word captions you can style. If you want to cut a sentence, you delete the words from the transcript and the video follows.
It is free because of how it is built, not because there is a catch waiting later. All the work happens on your own phone or laptop. There is no render server and no upload server for me to pay for, so there is no reason to ration exports, add a watermark or ask you to sign up. The optional Studio Packs only add extra looks; every editing tool stays free.
What it does today
- Cuts pauses and filler words, with Natural, Tight and Fast pacing
- Removes background noise from your voice
- Writes word-by-word captions in 99 languages, with animated styles and highlighted key words
- Lets you edit the video by deleting words from the transcript
- Auto zoom, follow-face reframing, background removal, music, text, stickers and split screen
- A teleprompter that records your take and hands it straight to the editor
- Exports a 1080p MP4 in 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9, with no watermark
Where it still falls short
I would rather tell you this up front than have you find out halfway through an edit.
- Captions are good, not perfect. On my test clips of clear English speech, about one word in ten still needs a fix, and clips with loud music or noise behind the voice are worse. Read them before you post.
- Hindi and Hinglish captions are not good enough yet. I'm working on it, because I speak both.
- Clips can be up to 15 minutes long, and older phones take noticeably longer than a laptop.
- The first time you use captions or noise removal, the AI model downloads once (a few hundred MB at most).
How I test changes
Every change to captions is measured against a fixed set of test clips in English, Spanish and Hindi, some clean and some with noise or music, before it ships. If a change doesn't make the numbers better, it doesn't go in. That is how the recent fixes to language detection and caption timing were chosen.
Private by design
Your video never leaves your device. Your files are read and processed inside your browser and never sent anywhere. Read theprivacy page for the details.
Say hi
I read everything people send me, and most of what is on the roadmap started as someone's message. You can find me making Shorts on YouTube, followCutmallow on X (@cutmallow) for new features, or write through the contact page.
